There are main components to this semester's symposium
Symposium Poster Presentations (3:00 - 4:30)
Location: Myungshin-building 7th floor
All enrolled students in Spring 2017 semester elective courses need to bring their poster to the symposium and will be assigned to one of three different sessions. Session assignments will be posted on the wall when you come to the symposium.
All students should arrive at least 10 minutes before the symposium starts and check their presentation schedule.
Symposium Dinner (5:30-8:00)
All students who have paid the Student Union for the symposium dinner are eligible to eat with us. Payment must be made in advance. No one showing up on that day without having paid in advance can eat dinner.
Time: After symposium presentation (Around 5:30PM or 6:00PM)
Location: Centennial building #707 이삼봉라운지 (백주년기념관 707호)
Please deposit money into MA TESOL student union's account.
If you paid student union fee, you should paid 10,000 won, or not you paid 20,000 won.

This special lecture is designed to provide MA students of TESOL Graduate School with an intensive introduction to SPSS Statistics, a statistical software program used for data management and data analysis. This lecture is a complement to the theoretical and practical issues introduced in research methods in applied linguistics and education research.

To the thesis defense presenter:
Please send your PPT file to the MA TESOL email account one day before your thesis defense and bring approximately 20 copies of your handouts (double-sided copy is O.K) for the audiences on the day of the defense.
We are looking for 4 people to help Prof. van Vlack teach the English in Action Speaking class while the Practicum people are taking their exams.
Date - Thursday May 25.
Time - Class runs from 6:00-7:50. We need to be there by 5:45 to set up the desks.

The teachers act as group leaders. essentially this means she or he res the group making sure they understand the tasks and providing scaffolding while the students are performing tasks.
It is a good chance to see how the teaching part of the practicum works.
To make this clear, people who are interested in the class to send an email to Prof. van Vlack (email@example.com) exclaiming their interest.

1. Log in to the Sookmyung Portal System
2. Go to Academics(학사) -> Graduation(졸업) -> Thesis Management(논문관리)
-> Thesis / Project / Exam Application (학위논문 / 과제 / 시험신청)
● Thesis students = 학위평가구분 -> 학위논문 -> Write the tile of your thesis(Both Korean and English)
● Practicum students = 학위평가구분 -> 학위자격시험(You don't need to write 시험제목)

There will be a Journal committee meeting on Saturday, March 25th at 13:00.
Location will be the Haengpa building 210.
The purpose of the meeting is to determine who will be involved in this new volume of the journal (Fall 2017)
and see what kinds of jobs they want to do. The more hands the lighter the work.
Anyone who is interested in joining or finding out about the committee are all welcome to come to the meeting.
This is an important part of the MA experience and really crystallises what we do here,
so please take a little time out to get involved.
Also, MA TESOL office has the MA TESOL JOURNAL Spring 2017 Vol.13.
If you are a freshman, you will receive a free journal.
And a current student who applied to a journal through MA TESOL e-mail is also get it with a book price.
The price of journal is 5000 won per book ( you can get it for half price if you paid the student union fee).
Please send e-mail, if you have some question on the journal committee meeting or MA TESOL JOURNAL .
If you are a currently employed, certified Korean school teacher who has earned credentials from the Korean government or are a government officer, you are eligible to apply for the teacher/government officer scholarship.
Application submission period is from March 13(Mon) to March 18 (Sat).
Please submit the following documents to the office of the Registrar,

- proof of employment (Approved document after Spring 1st, 2017) All applicants even those who have previously received the scholarship need to submit this document.
- proof of teacher's pension. Only those applying for the first time need to submit this.
Applicants will also have to submit their bank account number via the Portal system.
