The interviews start after the writing exam. The writing exam is required only of those who did not submit a valid copy of English language proficiency test results.

(Non-Koreans or international applicants do NOT take the writing exam)
The writing exam is required only of those who did not submit a valid copy of English language proficiency test results. The format of the writing exam is fixed. The test is handwritten on paper and will NOT be typed on the computer. The length of the test is 60 minutes. There are three sections. The first task is listing, the second task is description writing, and the last task is opinion writing. The writing test sample is available.
Task 1: 10 minutes
Task 2: 20 minutes
Task 3: 30 minutes
The test follows the same basic format and allows for the same response times. Applicants will need to hand write the test, so please bring at least 1 really good pen. It will make a difference.
3.2 Interviews

The interviews typically start from 11:30 am after the writing exam. There are waiting rooms provided for applicants and the location of the rooms will be announced later.
Interviews provide the professors in the department an opportunity to get to know the applicants on a more personal level through face-to-face contact. One applicant is typically interviewed at a time by three different MA professors. The semi-structured interviews typically take 10-15 minutes. Applicants are assessed for the following criteria:
Communicative competence in English
Background knowledge and experience
Motivation
Academic mindset
Personal attributes
Applicants are encouraged to think carefully about why they want to take the MA and what they would like to do while in the MA. As this is a graduate-level program we prefer students who have a clear idea of what they want to do in the MA and why. In the end, we want students who are going to put a real and lasting effort into developing themselves during their time in the MA and who will be able to make a mark on the field.
Special allowances are made for non-Korean applicants who are not in the country at the time of the interviews and writing test. Information about that is available from the Office of International Affairs
