Reminder : the 15th Year Anniversary Celebration

23/2/2015

This is just a reminder that we are holding the 15th Year Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, 28 February.
As you know, the Special Interest Groups will begin at 4:30 at Myungshin-gwan (Room 605-609).

The  Special Interest Groups are organized into five areas and guiding questions for each group as below:

1. Theoretical Applications

  • Tell me about your teaching situations.
  • What theories do you believe work best in your situations and why do you think so?
  • Is there any mismatch between theory and practice in your situations?
  • How can theory inform practice?

2. Language Teaching Methodology
  • How do you collect data to know that your students are learning?
  • What approach have you taken to succeed in class?
  • No fail activities?

3. Evaluation and Material Development
  • Consider alternative assessment options and describe any examples that you have experienced in your teaching and learning.
  • What promotes its efficiency?

4. Young Learners
  • What do you think the problems in young learner education in Korea?
  • If there is any, would you introduce any recent teaching methods or information that you want to share?
  • What was the most effective teaching methods or learning ways for young learners in your experience?
  • If you have any good program (including institutes, Internet sites or publishers) you want to mention, please introduce us,
  • When we teach young learners, their parents ask us the following questions in many times. What do you think about these topics?

(When is the good period to study English grammar?Should the children go to academic institutions? In order to be good English users, do the Korean children need the private education?Studying abroad is necessary for young learners?)

5. CALL

  • What are some of effective online communities or blogs for teaching writing?
  • How do students get benefits from them?

You will be asked to prepare something that you can bring to the meeting. You will be able to share information, activities, materials, ideas, etc.

We look forward to seeing you.

Regards,
